Sleep Positioning vs. Reflux
In addition to providing superior torso elevation than head of bed (HOB) elevation and bed wedges, MedCline also facilitates sleeping on the left side (which is better for reflux than sleeping supine or right-side-down). Patented features of MedCline ensure that patients comfortable stay in this optimal inclined-side sleeping position, while they sleep, resulting in dramatic improvements in esophageal acid exposure, symptoms and quality of life. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does MedCline require a prescription to purchase?
Nope. MedCline is a Class I medical device and DOES NOT REQUIRE A PRESCRIPTION to purchase. In some cases, however, a patient's insurance company may require a presscription to allow the patient to use their FSA/HSA account for purchase.
Is MedCline coverd by CMS or any private insurance providers?
Unfortunately not. Because of unfavorable existing CMS coding, MedCline is very rarely covered by public or private health insurance. It has been our experience that billing as miscellaneous DME (E1399) is successful in less than one percent of cases.
Can patients use an FSA/HSA card to pay for MedCline?
Yes, MedCline meets the IRS Guidelines and may be classified as an FSA/HSA approved medical expenditure. Specific questions about eligible purchases should be directed to the patient's plan’s administrator prior to purchase. FSA/HSA participants who are not issued debit cards may still be able to purchase MedCline by submitting for reimbursement through established plan procedures.
